OUR HISTORy

For more than 60+ years, Argus has grown from a local manufacturer in Edmonton, Alberta, into a global provider of energy products, pipe threading, and custom machining.

OUR FOUNDERS

Founded in 1958 in Edmonton, Argus was led by Albert Kranenburg as President, with co-founder Tommy Hallett joining the following year. Their vision of innovation, service, and quality laid the foundation for a company that continues to thrive today.

COMPANY TIMELINE

1958

Incorporation in Edmonton

Aging barrel trap infrastructure created safety and environmental risks for a major transit operator.

1963

New Edmonton Facility

Argus relocates to 5820–97 Street, Edmonton, where its main manufacturing facility still operates today.

1966

The CRIDAN Machine & Argus Valve Ltd.

Arrival of the CRIDAN threading machine from Belgium marks the start of Argus’ threading expertise. The same year, Argus Valve Ltd. is incorporated, introducing the check valve product line.

1984

Atlantic Argus

Argus expands operations with Atlantic Argus, active until 1990.

1985

FJ-AT Connection & Face & Chase System

Development of the proprietary FJ-AT thread connection and the Face & Chase System, enabling near-new repairs to casing and tubing. Patented in Canada (1998) and the USA (2001).

1994

Assembly & Testing Facility

Opening of Argus’ first assembly and testing facility.

1995

First Argus Pigging Valve

The first Argus Pigging Valve is developed, followed soon after by the Argus Pressure Switch.

2002

Nisku Manufacturing Facility Opens

A new facility opens in Nisku, Alberta, strengthening Argus’ production capacity.

2010

Employee Shareholders Expand

Shareholding expands from the original founders to a group of 13 employees, setting the stage for employee ownership.

2019

Acquisition of Precimax Mfg. Ltd.

Argus acquires Precimax Mfg. Ltd., adding Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) to its capabilities.

2022

Rebrand & ESOP Expansion

Argus rebrands with a new look reflecting precision, quality, and innovation. The Employee Share Ownership Program (ESOP) is extended to all employees.
